Ticketing and concert discovery site Songkick has announced a product integration with Shazam.
The partnership will see Songkick’s list of upcoming events featured within the Shazam app.
The new offering, which will be rolled out in 2017, will integrate Songkick’s concert data and information directly into the Shazam app, making hundreds of thousands of upcoming artists' tour dates available to users at the very moment they're finding new music. In tandem, Songkick will have access to Shazam’s expanding global community, born from an app that has been downloaded more than one billion times.
“The moment of discovery is such an important time to educate the fan about a show,” said Matt Jones (pictured), CEO of Songkick. “I’m proud to say we’ve built a technology platform that will enable every artist we work with, and every fan who uses us, a chance to seamlessly discover new artists and immediately have the opportunity to see them live. Shazam plays such a pivotal role in music discovery, and we’re excited to expand our reach to millions of more live music fans around the globe, ensuring Songkick is available wherever fans are engaging the most."
Since merging with CrowdSurge in 2015, the company has received international attention for working with artists to improve the live experience, utilising its technology to ensure artists sell more tickets to fans through enhanced discovery while reducing the number of tickets sold to touts. The firm says fans who use Songkick are now attending over twice as many shows each year.
“We’re constantly looking for ways to branch out in new ways to serve our users, focusing on what is important to music fans,” said Fabio Santini, Shazam's chief product officer. “In partnering with Songkick to create this new offering, we are able to further connect the dots from discovery to fandom that make up a strong artist-to-fan relationship. We are extremely excited about bringing this to our global community in 2017.”
