New-look edition of Music Week out now

The new-look edition of Music Week is out now and includes a very special celebration of the 50th anniversaries of Radio 1 and 2.

In our cover story, we speak to Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper and head of Radio 2 Lewis Carnie to give us their thoughts on streaming, working together and ponder what will happen to the music industry if, perish the thought, they’re not here for another 50 years…

Elsewhere, we speak to two presenters that currently embody Radio 1 and 2 in 2017, with rising star Clara Amfo guiding Music Week through her journey from Kiss FM intern to Radio 1 and much-loved presenter Jo Whiley talking us through her glittering career. On top of all of this, Music Week speaks to top names in the biz to give us their tributes to, and fondest memories of, Radio 1 and 2, including salutes to John Peel, Tim Westwood, Annie Mac and Terry Wogan…

From one celebration to another, Music Week also speaks to BRIT Award-winning singer Paloma Faith who is back with fourth album The Architect, her first LP since 2014. The pop icon reveals her innermost thoughts on new music nerves, turning down Diane Warren and the impending end of the world…

There’s also news of Rocket Music expanding its management business around the world; Capitol's Jo Charrington talks about her new role at the label and its ambitious plans for “international success”; and we bring you the scoop on the new link-up between UMPG and Mirrorball.

All sections of the magazine have a fresh new look and some new editorial additions, plus we have two new regular features in the magazine. In the first ever Hitmakers, songwriter extraordinaire Wayne Hector gives us an in-depth look at the writing of Nicki Minaj’s blockbuster single Starships, plus Kobalt president, global creative, Sas Metcalfe tackles our brand new The Aftershow feature, in which the industry’s biggest names have the last word on their time in the biz…

Plus there’s all the very latest news, charts and analysis, including a new massively enhanced market shares and statistics page that goes deeper into the week's sales and streaming figures than ever before. Look for the new-look issue in all good newsagents now. To subscribe and never miss another vital music biz story, click here.
