Albums market down for third consecutive week

The albums market suffered its third straight double digit decline in as many weeks last week and, at 2,403,225 sales, it was down to less than a quarter of its size in the week immediately prior to Christmas, writes Alan Jones .
 
The compilation sector has been shrinking much faster than the artist sector recently but has weathered the last week better, with 460,789 sales marking a surprise 5.8% increase on the same week in 2006. Artist album sales ...
