Amazon claims 12.3% of the vinyl market in the US while independent retailers control 50% collectively.
Following a claim made by Urban Outfitters chief administration officer Calvin Hollinger that the company was the largest seller of vinyl in the US, Billboard surveyed wholesalers, distributors and retailers.
The survey covered about 80% of the market and found that Amazon is in fact the largest retailer selling vinyl in the US, with around 12.3% of the market share.
