Apple has reportedly demanded that HMV’s new download app be removed from the tech giant’s App Store after proving hugely popular as it passes 5,000 downloads in just a few days since its launch.
Launching last Thursday (October 17), the app allows users to download music to their devices through an Android and iOS app.
Hilco and HMV CEO Paul McGowan revealed that Apple asked for the new HMV app be removed, however HMV’s MD of digital, James Coughlan says there are “no plans to discontinue operating the app.”
He said: “We didn't expect to cause such a rustle, given that we've followed all of Apple's rules. We want to provide consumers a great service."
The Android version is said to be performing twice as well.
