Direct-to-fan platform Bandcamp has paid out $100 million to artists.
The site, which launched in 2007, has seen sales rise 30% in the last year, according to co-founder Ethan Diamond.
More than 16,000 records are bought every day on the site, amounting to one every five seconds. Bandcamp estimates that fans give artists $3.5m every month via the site.
