BMG has appointed European independent [PIAS] to provide key sales, marketing, distribution and fulfillment services for its newly-acquired Sanctuary and Mute Records catalogues - which it recently acquired for around £47m in total.
[PIAS] will be catalogue partner for the world outside North America for more than 100,000 Sanctuary/Mute recordings now owned by BMG. However, Music Week understands that the Depeche Mode (Mute) and Black Sabbath (Sanctuary) recordings are not covered by the deal.
BMG will register works, as well as managing royalty accounting, sales reporting and sync. It will collaborate with [PIAS] on campaign planning and shipment control.
[PIAS] will provide digital and physical retail marketing, sales, manufacturing, and distribution services.
BMG EVP International Repertoire Fred Casimir said, “We are delighted to be working with [PIAS]. We were particularly attracted by their spirit of independence and their international network in the key markets.”
[PIAS] has a network of dedicated catalogue specialists managing innovative download and streaming service promotions; Music Week Award-winning sales and distribution teams, high profile [PIAS] Apps on Spotify and Deezer and a specialist YouTube team.
Adrian Pope, Managing Director of [PIAS] Artist and Label Services, said, “[PIAS] has a potent combination of experience, great systems, specialist expertise and an established international network of offices and partners. BMG has clearly established a reputation as a company which genuinely cares about the rights and repertoire that they hold. Together we share a common goal in working collaboratively to really bring to the surface a raft of repertoire that has huge potential, not least in the continually evolving and globalized digital markets.”
