BRITs 2013 TV broadcast most watched in 10 years

BRIT Awards broadcaster ITV has confirmed that last night's ceremony was the most watched in 10 years.

Overnight figures suggest that the broadcast brought in 6.51m (27.79%) viewers.

This compares to previous year ratings below:

2012 - 5.9m/24% (6.2 million including catch-up figures)
2011 - 4.8m/19%
2010 - 5.9m/22%
2009 - 5.2m/22%
2008 - 6.1m/24%
2007 - 5.3m/22%

The show aired from 8pm–10.15pm with a peak audience of 7.5m (30.8%)  during One Direction’s performance at 9pm.
