Will digital music sales ever make up for CD's decline?


POLL: According to Official Charts Company data published by BPI, the 10 biggest-selling digital albums of all time have all sold more than 250,000 copies online, equating to more than 100m total sales.

The BPI reported earlier this year that revenues from downloads and subscriptions overtaking income from physical CDs and records in the first quarter of 2012.  Digital now accounts for a 34% volume of the total albums market.

The landmark has been achieved in a little more than six years since official records of digital sales began in April 2006, and only two years since the industry celebrated sales of 50 million digital albums. But will the surge ever make up for the fall in physical sales? Answer our poll below...
