The deal, which was carried out by EMI Music Publishing US Latin creative director Leslie Ahrens in Miami and urban senior creative director Leotis Clyburn, finds the company represent hits including, Reggaeton Latino, Probre Diabla and Angelito.
Speaking about the deal, EMI Publishing regional managing director/Latin America Nestor Casonu says, "Don Omar has written many of the Latin urban songs that have made the genre explode internationally, and opened the door for other artists that followed."
He adds, "We met in Puerto Rico many years ago and over dinner had a long discussion about the importance of protecting his songs and interests as a songwriter. Today I personally feel gratified and honored to welcome Don Omar to EMI Music Publishing and look forward to working together for many years to come."
Don Omar became one of reggaeton's first international superstars and in 2006 became the first reggaeton star to break into the Billboard Top 200 album chart top 10 with his album King Of Kings. Omar has sold in excess of five million albums to date worldwide.
