Ex-Sanctuary boss on board at Proper

The Proper Music Group has announced changes to its board and senior staff, including the appointment of ex-Sanctuary Records CEO Joe Cokell as non-executive director of Proper Music Group Trading.

Elsewhere, Aaron Black, formerly Head of IT within Proper Music Distribution is promoted to Group Technical Director.  Esther Tewkesbury takes on the new role of General Manager, Product and Marketing within Proper Music Distribution.

At the same time, Tony Engle steps down from his position as Non Executive Director of Proper Music Distribution and Rob Hutchison steps down as Director from the boards of Proper Music Distribution and Proper Music Group Trading to concentrate on his role within the Proper wholesale team.

The Proper Music Group Trading board consists of Drew Hill (Managing Director), John Glockler (Finance Director), Paul Riley (Commercial Director), Aaron Black (Technical Director) and Joe Cokell (Non Executive Director).

Chairman of the Proper Music Group, Malcolm Mills, said: “2013 will be the 25th anniversary of me starting the company and this dynamic board of directors gives me great confidence for the future.  There's never been an easy time for business and they will keep us in good shape to withstand the greater pressures and challenges that are in store for everyone."

Group Managing Director, Drew Hill, commented “This has been our strongest trading year to date and as our business continues to grow, Joe Cokell brings a wealth of experience & expertise from within the recorded music industry to the board.”

The Proper Music Group comprises six different trading entities, including Navigator Records, who recently scored a No.16 album chart position with Bellowhead’s Broadside.

Sister company Proper Music Distribution is the current Music Week Distributor of the Year, a distinction they also won in 2009 and 2010.
