France hails 'second revolution' as streaming gives digital income a boost

French trade body SNEP (le Syndicat National de l'édition Phonographique) has released year-end figures for recorded music in 2014, showing streaming overtaking downloads in digital revenue.

Stats revealed at a conference in Paris today (Tuesday, February 3) show that the recorded music market in France dropped 5.3% in 2014. with revenue from physical formats falling more than 10%.

Physical music revenue was €325.3 million in 2014, down 11.5% year-on-year. Overall market revenues in France fell from €603.2m to €570.6m. ...
