Gigwise.com has entered a media partnership with a one-off festival, Strummer Of Love, which commemorates the 10th Anniversary of Joe Strummer’s death.
Proceeds from the festival, taking place on the August 17-19, will go to Strummerville: The Joe Strummer New Music Foundation which provides opportunities to people through music that they wouldn’t usually find.
Gigwise will be amongst the only two online music news sites that are partnering with the festival this year.
Gigwise editor Michael Baggs said: “It's an honour to be involved with such a festival that focuses on a great cause and with so many brilliant bands on the bill, there is no doubt this will be a very special event”
The event will accommodate 5000 visitors and will be handling its own ticket sales, bypassing the booking fees associated with festivals.
Strummerville will also have a forum for the re-sale of tickets so that they won’t be on sale via the so-called ‘fan to fan’ sites.
