Global Radio announces £15m investment in local DAB with Bauer

Global Radio has signed a contract with Bauer Media for the carriage of Global stations for a total investment of £15 million over the next 12 years.

A key priority for both Government and the radio industry is to improve the coverage of the local layer of DAB transmitters, to bring it up to the same standard as national DAB transmission.

Global believes that this needs both investment and leadership and is "committed to working constructively with the rest of the industry to make this possible".

Ashley Tabor, founder and executive president of Global said: “This is an important development for this company and for the future of local digital radio. It is critical,” he added, “that as DAB grows, the investment in the local layer of DAB infrastructure matches the investment being made to the national layer.”
