Google TV announces music partnerships

They will be among the pre-installed Google TV apps, giving users access to music videos and streaming music via their TV sets.

Google TV launched in May this year, describing itself as "TV meets web: web meets TV". It adds, "Google TV is a new experience for television that combines the TV that you already know with the freedom and power of the Internet. With Google Chrome built in, you can access all of your favorite websites and easily move between television and the web."

Other partners include HBO, Turner Broadcasting, Amazon Video On Demand and Netflix.

Google TV users will also get access to Android Market early next year. The Logitech Revue is one of the first Google TV-ready sets and Sony is expected to have a Google TV-embedded HDTV on sale before the end of the year.

Google TV will initially be US-only and no international expansion plans have been announced.
