HMV CFO Ian Kenyon among 190 new job cuts

Fired HMV employees have taken to the retailer's official Twitter account to offer a live blog of 190 job losses across the firm's head office and distribution network.

Music Week sister site MCV understands that HMV CFO Ian Kenyon is among the spate of new staff cuts.

An initial 60 jobs were reported to have been cut, with those fired taking to twitter to expose the process.

HMV administrators have now confirmed, however, that fresh cuts have been made overall.

Nick Edwards, joint administrator, told the BBC: "Since our appointment as administrators over two weeks ago, we have been assessing the financial position of HMV. Following this review, a number of redundancies at the head office and distribution centres have been made.

"Although such decisions are always difficult, it is a necessary step in restructuring the business to enhance the prospects of securing its future as a going concern."

On the potential sale of HMV, Edwards said: "We have been very pleased with the level of interest in the business as a going concern, whilst the response from customers has demonstrated the demand to see HMV remain on the high street."

Action now appears to have been taken to delete the HMV Twitter account job losses commentary.

However, a screen grab, which you can seen below, is helping #hmvXFactorFiring trend worldwide on the social media site.
