Jay Z to part with 50% of song royalties for jazz sample
Jay Z will have to pay 50% of the royalties from Versus, a track from his 2013 album Magna Carta Holy Grail, to jazz musician Bruno Spoerri for an instrumental allegedly copied from his 1978 composition, Lilith: On The Way.
The ruling comes after an 18-month court case, after Jay Z denied copying the instrumental. However, he reportedly admitted using the music a few months ago, according to Daily Mail.
