Sajid Javid has been promoted in a Cabinet reshuffle to Business Secretary, vacating his position as Culture Secretary after just over a year. John Whittingdale OBE, the former Chair of the Commons Culture Committee, will replace Javid.

Javid took over from Maria Miller as Culture Secretary in April last year, following her resignation. Previously, Javid was Financial Secretary to The Treasury. He now replaces Lib Dem Vince Cable in his new role.
