The Now That's What I Call Music! 83 compilation has become the fastest-selling album of 2012, according to Music Week analysis.
The EMI-issued title, released last Monday, sold 295,789 copies in the week ahead of last night's Official Albums Chart announcement.
According to Music Week's Official Charts Analysis: It is the highest weekly sale recorded by any album thus far in 2012, beating the 267,618 opening week tally of its immediate predecessor Now! 82 and the 255,337 copies that Now! 81 sold on its debut, 17 weeks and 33 weeks ago, respectively.
It can't quite match the first week sales recorded by 2011 equivalent Now! 80 on its debut exactly a year ago - but it's damned close, with just 34 fewer takers.
