Rock claims a third of UK album sales in 2013

The rock genre was the most popular genre of 2013 in the UK in terms of albums despite the five best-selling LPs of the year coming from pop acts.

Despite Now! 86, 85 and 84 topping the best-selling albums chart followed by One Direction’s Midnight Memories and Emeli Sandé’s Our Version Of Events, new rock releases and catalogue ensured the genre claimed a third of UK LP sales last year.
