Sony ATV threatens 'removal of all rights' from BMI and ASCAP

In a landmark move, Sony ATV is threatening to withdraw the licensing of all of its rights from US collection societies ASCAP and BMI.

The largest publisher in the world has been locked in a battle to withdraw its digital performance rights from the PRO for some time, as it wishes to negotiate rates with the likes of YouTube and Pandora directly on behalf of its writers.
