UK acts have now claimed the top-selling artist albums globally in six of the last seven years – and seven of the last ten – after One Direction’s Midnight Memories was 2013’s top-selling LP worldwide.
The album sold 4 million copies around the world in just five weeks (685,000 in the UK) following its release on November 25.
The group edged out Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2to claim the top spot.
