In a bid to make its catalogue more transparent for potential licensees, Universal Music Publishing Group is to make its entire song database accessible online.
The company will publish its song data, including information such as names of songwriters and each song’s country of origin.
When launched, the database will be available at www.umusicpub.com. It will initially feature UMPG’s US catalogue before its global repertoire is added.
Michael J. Sammis, UMPG executive VP of operations and CFO worldwide, said: “As the licensing environment changes, we want to be transparent, and responsive to the needs of licensees and users. A comprehensive song repository helps ensure UMPG is positioned to best serve those licensees both now and in the future.”
