Universal Music Group “is using license negotiations with Spotify to push for changes to the company’s” free tier, according to the Financial Times.
The major label is arguing that the content offered on the streaming platform's free and paid for tiers aren't that different, and that there’s evidence Spotify’s free tier has had an impact on downloads from stores such as iTunes.
