US music revenues down 5% in H1 2014

The US music industry saw revenues dip 4.9% year-on-year in the first half of 2014.

According to the RIAA, overall revenues went from $3.35 billion in the first six months of 2013 to $3.2 billion in the same period of 2014.

Digital revenues saw a very slight dip from $2.214bn to $2.203bn, but subscription and ad revenue from streaming was up 23.3% and 56.5% respectively. Subscription income went from $301.4 million in 2013 to 371.4 million in 2014, while ad ...
