Sync Story: Bonobo/Fiat

Sync Story: Bonobo/Fiat

Helping Fiat celebrate the 60th anniversary of its Fiat 500, British animator Cyriak and Ninja Tune producer Bonobo team up for a trippy mix of music and visuals.

Bonobo (real name Simon Green) hit the Top 5 with sixth album Migration back in January, but Dan Neale, music supervisor at Native, drew from 2013’s The North Borders for the Forever 500 spot.

“Cyriak has a very distinctive animation style, and the looping of sequences lends itself really well to Bonobo’s music,” says Neale.

“The agency also loved the way the music allows the visuals to come to the fore and draw the viewer in. It’s a great looking spot and the music dovetails with it beautifully.”

This isn’t the first time Cyriak and Bonobo have collaborated - the director made the video for Cirrus in 2013. “We’re big fans of Cyriak,” says Sergio Pimentel, senior creative at Ninja Tune.

“We loved the creative on this campaign and Antenna complements its hypnotic style perfectly. This is a great addition to an already great start to 2017 for Bonobo, with Migration reaching the Top 5 in the album charts and a sold out tour.”

Michelle Stoddart, Kobalt’s SVP, global creative synchronisation, adds, “It’s always a pleasure to work with Dan and we are really pleased to see music and visuals marry perfectly in a great campaign.”
