The shortlist for the prize, which is intended as a Nordic equivalent to the UK's Barclaycard Mercury Prize, contained albums from bands across the region, including Dungen, Robyn and Efterklang.
The jury said of Go, the debut album from the Sigur Ros singer, "The music of the winner could only have been made here, in the North. It sounds and almost smells like Iceland. It's brave and life affirming pop music that grabs you by the heart in flamboyant technicolour."
