Following celebrating her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the night before, Columbian singer Shakira was honoured as the Latin Recording Academy's Person of the Year in addition to taking home the award for Best female pop vocal album for Sale El Sol.

Shakira said of the honour: "This is one of the most important moments in my life and the most important recognition I've received."
