YouTube targets indie musicians

Eligible artists will be able to create their own channel on YouTube and share in related ad revenue. Previously only acts signed to record labels or who had negotiated a direct deal with YouTube could operate in this way.

The deal is being seen as strealing further ground on MySpace as YouTube looks to make stronger connections with the independent and unsigned music communities.
