Spotify have today (August 28) unveiled the top UK and global songs of the summer, with artists including Drake, George Ezra, Ariana Grande and Cardi B all making a big impact. In My Feelings by Drake was the top song globally, with the track being streamed 393 million times between June 1 and August 20. Elsewhere in the list, Maroon 5’s Girls Like You”(featuring Cardi B) was the second most-streamed song of the summer, with about 293 million streams, while Cardi B featured again at third place with I Like It (featuring J Balvin and Bad Bunny) which secured more than 289 million streams for the same time period.
One of the of the breakout stars globally is 19-yr-old Chicago rapper Juice Wrld whose track Lucid Dreams has been a consistent presence on Spotify’s global chart for the last two months. Speaking about his success, Carl Chery, Spotify’s head of urban music said: "Juice WRLD is undoubtedly the breakout star of the summer. His rise was one of the quickest in recent memory but his music has proven to have staying power. His knack for melodies and his willingness to be vulnerable on songs like ‘Lucid Dreams’ connected with his audience in a real way."
In the UK Songs Of Summer 2018 list, George Ezra’s Shotgun was the most streamed track ahead of In My Feelings and One Kiss. Clean Bandit, Anne-Marie, Years & Years and Jonas Blue also had tracks in the top 10 songs of the summer in the UK.
