Successful candidates for 2018 ReBalance programme revealed

Today (April 18) Festival Republic and PRS Foundation have announced the second-round of successful candidates for the pioneering ReBalance programme.

As reported in Music Week last year, ReBalance is a Leeds-based, three year programme set up to address the issue of gender equality in the music industry. It provides one week’s studio recording time to a core female band, female musician or female solo artist each month in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

As well as the studio and engineer, applicants are also provided with accommodation and travel (entrants must be based within the UK) which will be covered by Festival Republic. At the end of the programme, Festival Republic will commit to giving these successful acts a slot at a Festival Republic or Live Nation Festival.

PRS Foundation has confirmed a pool of high profile female producers who will work with the artists and the team at the studio.

The new acts confirmed for the programme today include Lazy Day, Tamzene, Maya Kally, The Van T’s and Magick Mountain, who have all been selected by industry experts Melvin Benn (MD, Festival Republic),Lucy Wood (Talent Booker, Festival Republic), Vanessa Reed (CEO, PRS Foundation), Yinka Bokinni (Capital Xtra), Sammy Andrews (Deviate Media), Rachel Bollard (Transgressive), and Hayden Thorpe (Wild Beasts).
