Foreigner signs brand representation deal with Artist Legacy Group

Anglo-American rock band Foreigner has signed a brand representation agreement with Artist Legacy Group, a unit of Sony Music Entertainment dealing with music estate and brand management. Under the terms of the new arrangement, ALG will procure “license extension opportunities and unique collaborations with brands and other entertainment partners to leverage the Foreigner's name, logo and lyrics.”

Founded in 1976 by British guitarist Mick Jones, the band will celebrate next year the 40th anniversary of the release of their self-titled debut album. “We are looking forward to working with the professionals of Artist Legacy Group who I know are going to make a valuable contribution to the development of the Foreigner brand,” said Jones.

Foreigner’s catalogue includes includes such hits as Feels Like the First Time, Cold as Ice, Hot Blooded, Urgent and Waiting for a Girl Like You. The band's back catalogue has been a consistent seller, including in the digital era as it earned six gold and platinum awards from the RIAA for digital downloads in 2014.

“ALG is privileged to work closely with Foreigner to develop and source innovative opportunities for their iconic brand,” said ALG CEO Ashley Austin. “We will create fresh initiatives across a wide array of licensing and media categories on a global scale, and the 40th anniversary is an opportune time to establish groundbreaking collaborations with licensee partners.”

Phil Carson, the band's manager, added: “Sony made a very smart decision when they aligned themselves with Artist Legacy Group. I know they are going to be very effective for Foreigner as we go forward into our 40th anniversary year and beyond.”
