The Beatles release Sgt. Pepper merchandise collection with Selfridges

Bravado, Universal Music Group’s leading merchandise and brand management company, has announced a 50 Years of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band capsule collection, to be launched in the UK on July 19.

The collection will be available exclusively at Selfridges stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester and online via selfridges.com. The collection will feature as part of Selfridges’ Music Matters campaign that celebrates the relationship between music and style and is running instore from June 26 – October 18.

The launch celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, released in 1967. The record spent 148 weeks in the British chart, including 27 weeks at No.1. During its first US chart run, the album held the No.1 spot for 15 of the 88 weeks it appeared in the Top 200. It went on to win four Grammy Awards, and tops Rolling Stone magazine’s definitive list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

The 50 Years of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band collection, produced under license from Apple Corps and Apple Corps Agent, Caroline Mickler Ltd, includes t-shirts, long sleeve tees, sweatshirts, hoodies and a denim jacket.

Earlier this year, Music Week sat down with producer Giles Martin, who worked on the reissued album. Read the full interview here.
