Deezer appoints Julia Herd new VP communications

Deezer has appointed Julia Herd to the newly created position of vice president of communications.

The appointment is one of several new strategic hires for the company as the company looks to drive ‘rapid business expansion’.

Herd has previously worked for agencies Weber Shandwick and Consolidated as a senior lead on accounts, including Microsoft, Haagen-Dazs, Virgin Mobile, Disney and Codemasters. Having also worked for semiconductor company AMD, Herd joins the company from HTC, where she held the post of vice president of communications, reporting directly to CEO Cher Wang.

Deezer’s chief marketing and commercial officer, Golan Shaked, commented: “We are extremely excited to have Julia on board at a time when the digital music landscape is becoming both more mainstream and more competitive. With 16 years’ experience in running both corporate and consumer communications programmes for a number of challenger brands, we are confident that Julia will help take us to the next stage of our development.”

Herd added: “I am delighted to be joining Deezer and relish the opportunity to play a part in its growth moving forward. The time is ripe for building on the company’s great achievements in helping consumers rediscover music in a way that’s entirely relevant to them. I look forward to being a part of the continuing success of such an exciting and ambitious brand.”
