Bertelsmann posts $1.2bn profit for 2013

BMG parent Bertelsmann posted a net profit of $1.2 billion in 2013.

The company - which also owns American Idol producer FremantleMedia, broadcaster RTL Group and book publisher Penguin Random House - saw revenues rise 2% to $22.6 billion over the year. The $1.2bn net profit figure represents a 42% increase.
