Brighton business wins PRS Music Makeover Salons contest

Brighton-based salon Simon Webster Hair has been crowned the winner of PRS For Music's 2016’s Music Makeover Salons competition, earning a £5,000 prize to upgrade their current music offering for staff and customers.

Business owners Simon and Sophie Webster (pictured) beat more than 300 entrants from around the UK, with the final prize including expert advice from producer Steve Levine.

As part of the celebrations, PRS for Music hosted a launch party, with a presentation at the premises and live performances from DJ Melody Kane, local talent Øvre and members of Brighton’s Afropunk collective Lakuta at Brighton club Patterns. Local street artist Cassette Lord also appeared, creating live art at the venue.

“I really liked Simon and Sophie’s energy and enthusiasm in their salon," said PRS chairman and Music Makeover judge Guy Fletcher. "What particularly impressed me was that they are incorporating local artists and talent within their music offering. We love that they care about Brighton's wider music community alongside their business. Congratulations to the team.”

PRS for Music launched the annual Music Makeover competition six years ago to showcase and raise awareness of how important music is to local businesses.
