No let up in demand for Coldplay's 2017 dates

Coldplay were the world's biggest-selling live music act in 2016 and there's been no let up in demand for 2017.

The band grossed $241 million (£195m) from 60 shows last year after selling 2,676,425 tickets, according to Pollstar figures, and resume their A Head Full Of Dreams Tour in Singapore in March. The tour returns to Europe in June for multiple stadium dates, stopping off in Frankfurt, Milan, Dublin, Cardiff and Paris in July.

"We've sold 886,000 tickets for 14 shows next year," said Phil Bowdery, Live Nation's president of touring, international. "That's not including the UK - that's just European cities. Simon [Moran's] doing Cardiff and they've got Dublin in top of that, it's just awesome. It's an honour and a privilege to be involved and they're such nice guys as well."

"[The Cardiff nights] both just sold out straight away, which is tremendous," added SJM Concerts boss Moran, who is staging the two concerts at the Welsh capital's Principality Stadium from July 11-12.

The band's agent Steve Strange, of X-ray Touring, said: "There was no ease in the demand whatsoever and I think if anything else, because there were certain places we couldn't go to last year, like we couldn't go to France, apart from the stadium we did in Nice, because of the football. It was a similar thing in Italy, again, football related. So there were a lot of markets that we actually we couldn't get a chance to visit because of one thing or another, so we managed this time around we're doing two Milans and two Cardiffs and we've sold out three Stade De France in Paris. It's ridiculous."
