Sheffield Arena GM steps down to focus on promotions business

Sheffield Arena general manager Rob O'Shea has stepped down to focus on his event promotions firm, Manifesto Events.

O'Shea (pictured), who has spent 22 years in venue management at Manchester Apollo and Sheffield Arena, founded the company in 2012 with business partner Stuart Basford.

With more and more shows being added to Manifesto Events diary, O'Shea said it had become clear the project was becoming a full-time job and required his full attention if it is to be taken to the next level.

“Promoting has always been a passion of mine but I have only been able to treat it as a hobby given the demands of running an arena," he said. "There is a clear gap in the market for a Sheffield promoter who isn’t tied to a specific venue, and it’s one I am hopeful that Stuart and myself can fill. I am looking forward to continuing to work with agents and promoters I worked with as Sheffield Arena GM in my new capacity."

O'Shea has been succeeded at the helm of the 13,500-capacity arena by his deputy, Joe Waldron. Upcoming concerts at the venue include Phil Collins, The Killers, Little Mix, Katy Perry and Queen + Adam Lambert.
