BBC Radio unveils Christmas line-up

Bruce Springsteen as a festival castaway on Desert Island Discs and a special Live Lounge session by Olly Murs are among the highlights of BBC Radio's Christmas line-up, which was unveiled last night.

Other festive treats will include Paul Gambaccini telling the story of Kenny Everett’s friendship with The Beatles on Radio 2, Radio 1Xtra’s Hot For 2017 list and BBC Music Sound Of 2017 and Sir David Attenborough revealing a side to himself that few know, telling Radio 3 stories behind music he recorded from his travels around the world.

“During this festive period BBC Radio will remain a crucial and continuous soundtrack to the lives of our listeners," said Bob Shennan, director of BBC Radio and Music. "From Radio 1 to Radio 5 live and our digital stations, our teams have created Christmas schedules which will surprise, move and entertain them, with content expertly curated and carefully tailored to their tastes."

Elsewhere, Nadiya Hussain will invite listeners for a festive family feast on Radio 2 and choirmaster Gareth Malone will present his favourite choral music on Radio 2 and also appear as a festive castaway on Radio 4.

Shaun Keaveny will co-host his BBC Radio 6 Music Breakfast show on Boxing Day with Brian Eno and Brian Cox, while Natasha Kahn, aka Bat For Lashes, Laura Marling and Annie Nightingale have been confirmed as BBC Radio 6 Music’s Wise Women this Christmas
