Music Week Presents: DOOXS

Music Week Presents: DOOXS

DOOXS is a Dutch electronic duo formed last year by singer and songwriter Djoeke and producer Aniek. Despite their early days, they’ve already won the Rotterdam music prize Grote Prijs van Rotterdam and played the prestigious Eurosonic Noorderslag.

Premiering today on Music Week is “Wander”, the second single to be lifted from DOOXS’ forthcoming EP “Under My Tongue”. As the name suggests, “Wander” is sparse and haunting, with thick, viscous vocals meandering slowly through a spacious landscape of hypnotic acoustic and electronic drum sounds.

“This EP was entirely created by ourselves and we are extremely proud of it. We started working with each other only in August 2015, so it has all happened pretty fast. The lyrics deal with topics as vulnerability and intimacy and are quite visually oriented. The production is a mixture of downtempo genres like hip-hop, dub and trap and relying heavily on the editing of Djoeke’s vocals and mashing them into synths and background textures. Our musical inspirations include Clams Casino, Andy Stott, Balam Acab, Nosaj Thing, 18+ and Fever Ray.” explain the duo.

Enjoy “Wander” here before its release tomorrow via OO Records.
