Apple introduces cheaper iPod Touch as it passes 100 million sales

Apple has introduced a new, cheaper iPod Touch model as sales of the product pass the 100 million milestone.

Since last July, 18 million units were shifted despite predictions that sales would flag in competiton with smartphones.

The company this week introduced a cheaper $229 16GB model, exclusively available through its online stores for a limited time before being brought into retail outlets.
