The BBC has drawn criticism from the commercial radio sector for the “undue prominence” given to Gary Barlow amid a planned ‘Gary Barlow Day’ on Radio 2.
The broadcaster will promote the singer’s latest album next week with three interviews, a concert stream and an ‘Ask Gary’ Q&A session.
Director of radio industry group RadioCentre, Matt Payton, told The Times that the BBC “overstepped the mark previously with its promotion of acts like Coldplay and U2”.
