BitTorrent founder granted live streaming patent

BitTorrent inventor Bram Cohen has been granted a patent for his BitTorrent-based peer-to-peer live streaming technology.

Cohen (pictured) started working on a new protocol for live streaming video more than half a decade ago. He has developed a new BitTorrent Live protocol with a much lower latency while sharing the bandwidth costs among users, allowing anyone to stream to an audience of millions at minimal cost, reports TorrentFreak.
