BPI to include downloads in sales certifications

UK record labels will be able to combine physical and download sales for the first time to claim BPI silver, gold or platinum sales discs.

As part of a BPI council overhaul of the rules covering sales certifications and physical shipments, downloaded tracks will now be taken into account when sales awards are issued in future.
