CI signs deal with Secretly Canadian

Digital delivery platform Consolidated Independent (CI) has signed a deal with Secretly Canadian Distribution (SCD) to include repertoire from acts such as Bon Iver and Dinosaur Jr.

The tie-up takes in assests from distributor SCD's parent label group Secretly Canadian/Jagjaguwar/Dead Oceans and also recordings from Asthmatic Kitty, Constellation, K Records, Sacred Bones, Temporary Residence and others. Among the artists whose recordings are part of SCD are Bon Iver, The Tallest Man On Earth, Dinosaur Jr, The War On Drugs, Bill Fay and Explosions In The Sky.

SCD general manager Chris Welz said: "We're thrilled to bring our labels a wider range of services via CI who bring a level of access and ease of use to digital delivery that allows SCD a greater focus on our paramount goal: building our label and artist profiles across all retail platforms."

The SCD deal follows a recent agreement struck between AWAL and CI, which looks after content for more than 5,000 labels and makes around 1.4 million track deliveries every month,

CI general manager Kieron Faller said: "Having courted Secretly Canadian for some time we're very pleased to bring them into the CI client community. CI are the clear market leaders in digital delivery for independents, helping them to compete on a level playing field with the majors. In the wake of the Universal-EMI merger this becomes ever more important. Our service allows indies to deliver to at least the same technical quality and speed as the majors, but without having to maintain the infrastructure and know-how on their own."
