EMI licenses content to legal P2P service

EMI Music has become the first label to license its repertoire to US development company LTDnetwork, the owners of an advertising-supported, legal peer-to-peer service.

The P2P platform, QTrax, is available as a two-tiered service. The advertising-funded, free tier, allows users to search the network for specific tracks, which have been licensed to the service. The tracks will be encoded in QTrax's proprietary ".mpq" file format.
