Music publisher Freeplay Music has filed a counterclaim against YouTube multi-channel networks Machinima and Collective Digital Studios (CDS), after being sued last month for allegedly charging for licenses to music that was previously free.
In the countersuit, Freeplay claims that 87 copyrighted musical works have been used without authorisation 530 times, with CDS accused of 60 unauthorised uses of at least 42 songs in the library’s catalogue.
