Despite a barren schedule for blockbuster releases during the year's Olympic summer, the average critic's review score of 2012's best music albums was significantly higher than that seen in 2011.
According to review aggregator Metacritic, Frank Ocean's Channel Orange was the most critically acclaimed album of 2012, recording a 92% average score from the media.
