iTunes users' spending dropped 24% in Q1 - generating $2.6bn

Apple’s per-user spending on the iTunes Store has dropped 24% year-on-year, according to CNN.

Last quarter, each of Apple’s iTunes account holders spent on average $3.29, which - taking into account Apple's recent announcement of 800 million separate iTunes accounts - means that music generated a still-not-exactly insignificant $2.63 billion from sales on the platform.

Apple's bottom line wasn't greatly hurt by the tail-off from music, of course, with the company posting net profits of $10.2bn in its Q2 ...
