Jay Sean and Preeya Kalidas win at UK Asian Music Awards

Both Jay Sean and PBN won two awards: Sean picked up best male and best video for 2012 featuring Nicki Minaj, while PBN won best album for Crowd Pleaser and bestselling British single for Kaun Nee Jaandah.

Kalidas won best female and also performed Cross My Heart with Skepta; Rumer won best alternative act.

Kalidas said that it was "a real honour" to be recognised as best female, adding, "Music has always been a passion of mine."

Apache Indian opened the show, performing three tracks, Movie Over India, Arranged Marriage and Boom-Shack-A-Lack.

He was later given the lifetime achievement award, recognising his success in becoming one of the first Asian acts to cross over into the UK's mainstream charts.

The awards, now in their ninth year, took place at The Roundhouse in Camden.
